Due to different government restrictions on popular international social media platforms in China, Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, WhatsApps, Gmail along with many other platforms are banned. Alternatively, China has three key social media platforms that most of its locals uses:
WeChat – China’s leading multi-purpose messaging, social media and mobile payment app. It is the equivalent of Facebook, Whatsapp and ApplePay combined. This is an essential ‘everyday living’ app for the Chinese market.
Red Book – this is equivalent to Instagram.Also known as”Xiaohongshu”is a social platform and e-commerce platform.Mainly for selling international products to Chinese user via post photos and video stories.
TikTok – Video-sharing social networking service. It is used to create short dance, lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos.
